current information about emergency closings.
School Closing and Late Start Information
The district makes the decision about school closings based on several factors, including weather and local road conditions. We also consider the safe functioning of our school buses and buildings, as well as discussions with our sender elementary schools.
Emergency e-Learning Day - E-Learning Day
It is a priority to keep D219 buildings open; however, there may be times when we need to move to the Emergency E-Learning Plan for asynchronous learning. In the case of severe weather, the Superintendent will make a decision on behalf of the district by 5:30 am the morning of, or in some cases, the night before about whether D219 is moving to the Emergency e-Learning Plan.
Emergency Closing: No E-Learning Day
If school is closed for any reason without moving to our Emergency E-Learning Plan, D219 will use emergency days at the end of the school year so that we meet the required number of school attendance days per year.
Two-Hour Late Arrivals
A two-hour late arrival allows additional time for roads and sidewalks to be cleared, or for the temperature to rise to a safer level. In this case, school will operate on a two-hour late arrival schedule. School buses will begin picking students up two hours later than usual. Regular and Early Bird classes will begin two hours later than usual.
School Closing Announcements
Unless D219 sends an announcement through the school notification system, schools will be open and will operate on a normal school day schedule, including Late-Start Wednesdays. Emergency information is available in the following ways:
