The Niles West Math Team competed at the Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics (ICTM) State Math Contest on April 26. The team earned top-10 placements in two events at Illinois State University.

The Precalculus Team placed 10th out of more than 40 schools. Team members included Harry Fry, Syed Abdullah Khaden, John Montgomery, Anthony Mui, Jonathan Nguyen, and Andrew Thompson. Mui also placed 7th individually out of more than 200 students in the Precalculus event.

In the Oralist Team event, juniors Jacob Kawako and Anthony Mui earned 7th place out of 33 schools. This event is presentation-based and requires students to respond to questions in real time. This is the second year in a row the team has placed at the state level.

The full list of state competitors includes Muhammad Ammar, Arib Ansari, Alex Basue, Faizan Chaudhry, Meriam Choubkha, Kc Embers, Safiya Hedayat, Hannah Hufana, Sofija Khan, Kyle Lee, Jun Cheng Spencer Liu, Salwa Mohiuddin, Vraj Patel, Farhan Rahman, Inayah Shaikh, and Marcell Suszko.
