The Niles West Math Team performed at the Regional contest on Saturday, February 22, earning multiple qualifications for the ICTM State Contest.

Individual Achievements:

• Hannah Hufana (Sophomore) – 9th place in Geometry, qualified for State
• Jacob Kawako (Junior) – 3rd place in Algebra II, qualified for State
• Vraj Patel (Junior) – 9th place in Algebra II, qualified for State
• Anthony Mui (Senior) – 2nd place in Precalculus, qualified for State

Team Achievements:

• Calculator Team – 2nd place in the region, qualified for State
  • Team members: Safiya Hedayat, Inayah Shaikh (Freshmen), Kyle Lee, Marcell Suszko (Sophomores), Muhammad Ammar, Faizan Chaudhry (Juniors), John Montgomery, Jonathan Nguyen (Seniors)
• Freshman/Sophomore Team – 4th place in the region, qualified for State
  • Team members: Safiya Hedayat, Ansel Kim, Farhan Rahman, Inayah Shaikh (Freshmen), Kc Embers, Hannah Hufana, Kyle Lee, Spencer Liu (Sophomores)
• Junior/Senior Team – Regional Champions, 9th best score in Illinois, qualified for State
  • Team members: Muhammad Ammar, Sofija Khan, Salwa Mohiuddin, Vraj Patel (Juniors), Harry Fry, Abdullah Khaden, John Montgomery, Andrew Thompson (Seniors)
• Oralist Team – Regional Champions, tied for the top score in Illinois
  • Team members: Anthony Mui, Jacob Kawako

The team will compete at the ICTM State Contest on April 26 at Illinois State University.
