Niles West Assistant Principal Receives State Recognition

David Hawk, Assistant Principal at Niles West High School was named the 2025 Dean of the Year by the Illinois State Deans’ Association (ISDA). The ISDA is a statewide organization made up of high school and junior high school principals, assistant principals, deans and assistant deans who focus on student discipline, attendance, school safety, security and other relevant areas of education.

Previously a Dean of Students at Niles West, Hawk moved into his current role as Assistant Principal when D219 took steps in spring 2025 to transform its organizational structure to effectively use resources and best address the needs of students. Hawk’s recognition underscores his leadership, commitment to students, and contributions to school safety and culture.

Hawk has been an active member of ISDA with his term as president ending in 2025. He continues to support professional growth and collaboration among school leaders across the state. Hawk is pictured above with incoming ISDA President Cesar Rosales, a dean at Buffalo Grove High School.
