Niles North Students Recognized in National Writing Awards

Six Niles North students received national honors in the 2025 NCTE Achievement Awards in Writing, a prestigious program hosted by the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE). NCTE scores students at one of four levels: First Class (highest level), Superior, Excellent, or Merit.

The following students earned recognition for their submissions:

  • Marcus Gahm – First Class
  • Ayesha Khatoon – Excellent
  • Quetzalli Perez – Superior
  • Lolah Slagg – Superior
  • Amber Weatherspoon – Excellent
  • Sophia Weiss – Excellent

The Achievement Awards in Writing recognize students for their writing skills, originality, and voice. This year, 680 students were nominated across 41 U.S. states, Washington, DC, and nine other countries.
