Niles North High School students competed in the Illinois State History Day Contest on May 1, 2025 in Springfield. Sarah Novak, Nela Hanic, and Vivian Trupia advanced to the national round of the National History Day (NHD) competition for their documentary, The Jane Collective.

Students will compete at the national level this summer in Washington, DC. This year, the NHD celebrates its 50th anniversary and the 2025 contest theme is “Rights & Responsibilities in History.” The annual National History Day contest theme is designed to help students think of a topic from any aspect of local, regional, national, or world history. Their research will help answer questions about their topic and how it is significant in history.
