Niles North student Zem Kaihatsu was recognized in a local art exhibit that showcases student work and enhances art education and post-secondary programs. Kaihatsu took second place for a beverage can design that was featured at the Art Connected Northern Regional Exhibition held at the Bridgeport Art Center in April 2026.
 
Art Connected is a nonprofit organization that supports student artists by providing exhibition opportunities and connecting high school art programs across the Chicago region. The Northern Regional Exhibition features work from more than 100 high schools in categories including drawing, painting, mixed media, photography, design, sculpture, and ceramics.
