D219 athletes compete in Special Olympics events

The D219 Dragons, a co-op athletics team, competed in its first Special Olympics gymnastics competition on March 2 at Palatine High School. Niles West students Lily Firak, Luke Pranian, Edward Peterson, Alex Nole, and Karim Khan earned top finishes in their events. Bridges students Ryan Johnson and Psalm Depositario also competed with the team. The D219 Dragons will advance to the state competition on June 20-22.

On March 8, Niles North student Tynan Benson competed in the Special Olympics Basketball Skills state competition in Normal, Illinois. Benson placed second in his bracket and won a silver medal.
