BEST Fair Increases Access to Support for Students with Disabilities
Niles Township High School District 219 hosted the annual BEST (Business and Education for Students in Transition) Resource Fair on November 13, 2024. D219’s Bridges Adult Transition Center worked in partnership with area schools to provide information about community services for students with disabilities. The event was held at Niles North High School where students and community members learned about a wide range of resources, from employment services and transportation to health services and government programs.
“We appreciate the efforts of all those involved in planning the event,” said Bernadette Komenda, Assistant Director of Transition Services at Bridges. “This year, we saw an increase in attendance and engagement with the vendors, and overall feedback was very positive.”
BEST is a program that helps students transition from high school to post-secondary education or employment. It is designed for individuals with special needs or who face specific challenges during this transition.
