As a reminder, parents and guardians should review D219 procedures for severe weather and emergencies that may impact the school day. Please also check your contact information in Campus Parent Account Settings and, if necessary, update your preferences to make sure you get District notifications.
Emergency Notification Procedures
D219 prioritizes in-person learning, but severe weather or emergency situations can lead to school closures. If this happens, we will share timely updates about closings, remote (e-learning) days, delays, early dismissals and more.
Unless D219 sends an announcement, schools will be open and follow a normal schedule, including Late-Start Wednesdays. You can find emergency information in the following ways:
- District Website: niles219.org
- Emergency Notification System: Automated messages via phone, text or email
- Social Media @NTHSD219: Facebook and Instagram
School Closings Due to Weather
The district decides on school closings based on weather, road conditions, the safety of our buses and buildings, and other factors in the school community. We also consult with our sender elementary schools.
For more details on our school closing procedures, please visit Emergency Information on the D219 website.
We understand these decisions may not fit everyone’s needs at all times. Parents and families should use their judgment if they determine that sending their child to school is unsafe. If so, please call the school’s Attendance Office or the Absence Reporting Line to report the excused absence. D219 strives to balance student safety with educational needs when making weather-related decisions.
As always, contact your child’s school administration with any questions or concerns.
