D219 Names Niles West Principal

District 219 named Steve Parnther as principal of Niles West High School, starting July 1, 2026. The Niles Township High School D219 Board of Education approved the appointment at their February 3, 2026 meeting.

Steve is a passionate educator who brings more than a decade of experience to District 219. Prior to serving as Niles West’s acting principal for the 2025-26 school year, he served as the Assistant Principal of Operations at the school for six years. Steve came to D219 after gaining experience as a teacher and held prior positions in administration at Niles North, including Dean and Assistant Athletic Director.

“We are incredibly fortunate to have Steve’s ongoing leadership in our district,” said D219 Superintendent Tom Moore. “From the moment I first met Steve, he has been a true leader, and has always done what is best for Niles West. I am thrilled that he has agreed to become our principal, and this transition will benefit students, families and staff.”  

Steve holds a Master of Arts in School Leadership from Concordia University, a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction from the American College of Education, and a Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology and Sports Studies from Eastern Illinois University. He is also an alumnus of Niles West High School.

Steve looks forward to building on the strengths of the Niles West community, and he’s excited to seek more opportunities for student success. He is committed to meaningful collaborations and leading with purpose at D219.
