D219 Names Niles North Assistant Director of Special Education

District 219 named Daniel Casey as the Assistant Director of Special Education at Niles North High School, starting July 1, 2026. The Niles Township High School Board of Education approved the appointment at their June 9, 2026 meeting.

Dan is a dedicated educator and instructional leader with experience in special education, teacher development, and coaching. Throughout his 21-year career, Dan has served as a special education teacher, PAR (Peer Assistance and Review) consulting teacher and evaluator at District 219. In these roles, he has supported teachers through professional learning, evaluation, and instructional practices.

Dan holds a Master’s Degree in Special Education as well as Learning Behavior Specialist certification and an Illinois Evaluator Endorsement. In addition to leading professional development, he has supported co-teaching initiatives, mentored educators and served as a resource for student support and instructional improvement efforts. Dan also formerly served as a head baseball coach and an assistant basketball coach.

Dan believes that Niles North Special Education Department has some of the most dedicated and passionate educators in the district, and his professional experiences have prepared him to support a strong leadership team while continuing to advocate for students and staff. He also looks forward to the opportunity to contribute to the growth, innovation, and student-centered improvements within the department.

Dan has enjoyed coaching his children in basketball and travel baseball in the past. He and his family love to be on any lake to enjoy the outdoors, fish and watch movies together.
