District 219 named Melanie Zenisek as the K-8 Instructional Coordinator for the district, starting July 1, 2026. The Niles Township High School Board of Education approved the appointment at their June 9, 2026 meeting.

Melanie’s role aligns with both her passion for teaching and her commitment to supporting the growth of educators, representing a natural next step in her professional journey. Throughout her career, she has found great fulfillment not only in working directly with students but also in collaborating with teachers to improve instructional practices, analyze student learning, and create equitable opportunities for success.

Melanie holds a Doctor of Education (EdD) in Leadership from the American College of Education, a Master of Science in Curriculum & Instruction from National Louis University, and a Bachelor of Science in Geoscience from the University of Illinois. In addition to being a science teacher, curriculum facilitator and grants coordinator at suburban high schools in the Chicago area, she recently served as an academic science chair. Melanie has been recognized throughout her career by programs and grants in the field of science education.

Melanie looks forward to the opportunity to have a broader impact across an entire school system. As an instructional coach, she believes she can help build teacher capacity, foster meaningful professional learning, and support the implementation of high-quality instruction that benefits all students. She is particularly motivated by the chance to partner with educators in a way that honors their expertise while encouraging reflection, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Melanie loves to read, bake, and go to the movies. She spends a lot of time with her two boys, playing sports and board games, reading Dogman, and watching video games. She also enjoys going out to eat and trying local spots.
