D219 Names Director of K-8 Mathematics

District 219 named Zehra Khan as the Director of K-8 Mathematics, starting August 4, 2025. The Niles Township High School Board of Education approved the appointment at their June 10, 2025 meeting.

Zehra previously served as the K-12 District Math Coordinator for Saint Louis Public Schools, where she led the design and implementation of standards-aligned curriculum, developed rigorous benchmark assessments, and facilitated professional learning for teachers, instructional coaches, and school leaders.

She holds a Doctor of Education in Educational Practice and a Master’s degree in Secondary Education from the University of Missouri, St. Louis. Zehra also completed her undergraduate studies in mathematics and earned a Master’s degree in Business Administration in India.

Throughout her 16-year career in K-12 mathematics education, Zehra has been committed to equity, data-driven instruction, and high academic achievement for all students. Her work is based on research and focused on aligning instructional strategies with student needs and district goals.

Zehra enjoys painting, cooking, and gardening in her free time. She lives with her husband and their 12-year-old daughter.
