District 219 named Christine Gonzales as Deputy Superintendent, starting January 1, 2027. The Niles Township High School Board of Education approved the appointment at their August 4, 2026 meeting.

Christine has served as D219’s Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction since 2023. Prior to that role, she was the Executive Director of K-12 STEM & Literacy and the Director of K-8 Mathematics for the district.

Christine has a wide range of experience in education, having served as the Director of Innovative Teaching and Learning & Communications at Township High School District 113 (Highland Park) and as a math teacher and assistant principal at Lane Tech College Prep High School (Chicago).

After serving exceptional schools and communities throughout her career, Christine describes District 219 as her destination district. “As the daughter of Filipino immigrants, this diverse, hard-working, and caring community embodies everything my parents dreamed for my future and mirrors the very principles they instilled in me,” she remarks. “I am inspired to take this next step to ensure that every student in D219 is equipped with the tools and opportunities needed to build their own lives in pursuit of their passions.”

Christine holds a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education and a Master of Mathematics Education from the Illinois Institute of Technology. She received her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, with minors in Secondary Education, Asian American Studies, and Spanish. She is currently working toward her Doctor of Education in Curriculum Design and Instruction.

Christine enjoys going to concerts and musical performances, cheering on Chicago sports teams, and spending time with family and friends. She embraces the arts and spends her spare time taking photos, designing graphics, making things, and playing musical instruments (piano, guitar, ukulele, saxophone, clarinet). Christine also enjoys traveling and immersing herself in different cultures. She has visited 23 countries and hopes to eventually visit all 92 birth countries represented by D219’s student body.
