Teaching and Learning Council
The Teaching and Learning Council (TLC) is composed up of elected staff from across the district, building principals, NTFT Education Chairs, and Board of Education members.
In addition to overseeing the curriculum review process, the TLC is also responsible for the duties of two subcommittees: Curriculum Standards for School Improvement and Professional Development for School Improvement. Each year, the council works together to create a goal based on a priority voted on by the committee.
What is CSSI?
The committee for Curriculum Standards for School Improvement (CSSI) was established in 2000 to propose, research, evaluate, recommend, plan, and implement changes to the District 219 curriculum, including relevant board policies and administrative procedures.
The scope of the CSSI Committee’s responsibilities includes:
- curriculum development and assessment models
- grade weights
- grading standards
- graduation requirements
- district transcript standards
- new courses, course deletions and course changes
- policy and procedure changes
CSSI Committee Information
CSSI Committee members include teachers, students, parents, NTFT Executive Board members, administrators, and the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction.
The CSSI Committee meets monthly and is governed by an operations handbook. Meeting dates are subject to change.
What is PDSI?
The scope of the PDSI Committee’s responsibilities includes:
- technology training
- new teacher support
- school improvement initiatives
- department improvement initiatives
- school board initiatives
- Illinois state mandates
- professional development learning opportunities
PDSI Committee Information
PDSI Committee members include teachers, NTFT Executive Board members, administrators, and the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction.
The PDSI Committee meets every other month (or as needed) and is governed by an operations handbook. Meeting dates are subject to change.
