FOIA Requests
Some records are not subject to release via FOIA as described under 5 ILCS 140. In addition, some records may be subject to confidentiality provisions imposed by other state statutes.
The Illinois Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) provides public access to government documents and records.
The Illinois FOIA notes that it is “the public policy of the State of Illinois that all persons are entitled to full and complete information regarding the affairs of government and the official acts and policies of those who represent them as public officials and public employees consistent with the terms of this Act. Such access is necessary to enable the people to fulfill their duties of discussing public issues fully and freely, making informed political judgments and monitoring government to ensure that it is being conducted in the public interest.”
District 219 is committed to creating an unprecedented level of openness in local government. The district wishes to work to ensure public trust and establish a system of transparency, public participation, and collaboration. Openness will strengthen the school system and promote efficiency and effectiveness in local governance. The district seeks to be more transparent than is required under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act. The district’s website seeks to be clear, understandable, and usable to all.
