Niles North High School opened in fall of 1964, and averages a student population of over 2,000 per year.

Niles Township High School District 219 was recognized as the number one arts education program in the nation in 2007 by the Kennedy Center Alliance for Arts Education and the National School Boards Association.

Last year Niles North celebrated 50 years of excellence in education.  It wasn't just a one weekend of celebration, but a yearlong occasion - alums participated in the spring musical "Hairspray" (over 30 alumni in cast/crew), they shared their knowledge with students during Ask the Expert career exploration days, and a Distinguished Alumnna returned to share her story during the Awards of Distinction.  Alumni demonstrated with pride that "Once a Viking, Always a Viking," as they generously gave of their time, and money, to their high school.  Thank you to all the alumni who celebrated the 50th anniversary with Niles North.
